Animal Crossing gift available for download - DS Fanboy

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Animal Crossing gift available for download - DS Fanboy - It’s goofy stuff like this that make me want to try this Animal Crossing stuff.

DS Wireless stuff is pretty neat. A buddy of mine finally has a DS and we unlocked a Nintedog with each other recently. Kinda cool, but I didn’t like the dog I got! He got a cool mini-daucshund out of the trade.

WoW’s Official Response in their Forums

Friday, July 14th, 2006

This has been in my drafts for months. Just for completeness, I am still posting this (even though it is older than dirt now.)

WoW General Discussion - This was found in one of the forums. It’s in that pretty blue color which means it’s from an WoW representative, I think.

Apologies for the length of time it took to get this information out to you.

We encourage community building among our players with others of similar interests, and we understand that guilds are one of the primary ways to forge these communities. However, topics related to sensitive real-world subjects — such as religious, sexual, or political preference, for example — have had a tendency to result in communication between players that often breaks down into harassment.

To promote a positive game environment for everyone and help prevent such harassment from taking place as best we can, we prohibit mention of topics related to sensitive real-world subjects in open chat within the game, and we do our best to take action whenever we see such topics being broadcast. This includes openly advertising a guild friendly to players based on a particular political, sexual, or religious preference, to list a few examples. For guilds that wish to use such topics as part of their recruiting efforts, our Guild Recruitment forum, located at our community Web site, serves as one open avenue for doing so.

We will be clarifying some of the language in our game policies in order to help avoid such confusion in the future.

Reading this response makes it clear that Blizzard isn’t stopping the guilds from forming. It just prevents recruitment inside the game via open chat.

This may be sensible and I think I agree with this.

Blizzard’s GLBT gaming policy?

Tuesday, January 31st, 2006

In Newsweekly -.- Gaming -.- Blizzard of GLBT gaming policy questions - This is depressing. If all this is true, I am disappointed in Blizzard for the first time ever. They’ve made so many great games and made them for the Mac.

I do enjoy playing World of Warcraft, but it is tiring to read “That’s so gay” from other players (usually used as a negative remark.) It is one of the reasons I still want to find gay folks to play with (lack of time has prevented me from really doing this, but there are others who want the same thing.)

Hey Blizzard, knock it off. Let people with common interests find one another in the game!

Update: Neat quote at Boing Boing: World of Warcraft: Don’t tell anyone you’re queer

In real life, you can be a citizen with rights. In gamelife, you’re a customer with a license agreement.

Mattel Armor Battle

Sunday, January 2nd, 2005

Mattel Armor Battle - I had one of these!! Very cool to find photo’s of the game. My unit was left out in the car while at a water park in Florida. It didn’t survive.

A buddy of mine had the submarine one I think. Mattel Sub Chase His was in the car too, but I don’t the sun melted his. This was a long ass time ago and I barely remember.

Update: I also had this one… Mattel Football II. It was pretty cool too. These were all about the same time frame. It might have been in the car too :-). It survived and I may even still own this one. There are plenty more pictures and descriptions at this site. Electronic Handheld Game Museum

Gay Gamers on World of Warcraft

Wednesday, November 24th, 2004

World of Warcraft Community Site - World of Warcraft (WoW) has been released. I played the open beta and was very impressed with the interface and the gameplay.

There is a couple of guilds that are comprised of gay or gay friendly member already. I may seek them out, but for now, I’d just like to meet some other players and nothing too formal like a guild yet.

So, if anyone is gay or gay friendly, drop a comment here and maybe we can all hook up (heh) in the game.

Battle Zone Type Game

Wednesday, December 24th, 2003

BZFlag - home - This one is a free cross platform multiplayer tank battle game. There’s a Mac version (woo hoo), windows and linux. Hey guys (you know who you are!), let’s play.

Matrix Online

Sunday, November 9th, 2003

The Matrix Online - It had to happen. I have no idea what to think at this point.

I was bit disappointed with Matrix Revolution and am kinda Matrixed out right now. I’ll have to revisit this after I watch the Harry Potter movies again. Then I can look at it with a clear head. I’ve had Enter the Matrix on my PC for about 3 weeks and I haven’t had the time to even start it up (I just installed it.) Now that there is time, I just am not nearly as interested in playing.

Sigh…

Space Trader for Palm

Tuesday, August 5th, 2003

Space Trader Centre - Cute game that is very similiar to Dope Wars (funny game and pretty addictive, especially if your competing with someone for high scores!)

It is a turn based strategy game where you buy and sell stuff and after earning some cash you can do other interesting stuff. You have to try it to understand. The help system is very good and the game is GPL.

Tron 2.0

Tuesday, July 22nd, 2003

TRON 2.0 - While cleaning up some entries left over from the previous incarnation of Quadrant 99, I came across an entry for Tron 2. We thought it was a movie trailer, but now we know it’s a video game.

I do not know much about it yet, but thought folks would want to check it out.

PlanetSide Trial

Monday, July 21st, 2003

FilePlanet - PlanetSide 7-Day Free Trial - This is being posted primarily to let a couple of buddies know about it that keep up with my journal. Let me know if you wanna try this. I have no idea how long the trial will be available, but I do want to see the game in action. Hopefully, we can activate the 7 days at the same time.

Galaxies Got 125,000 Users

Monday, July 7th, 2003

Sci Fi Wire - Looks like the game has had a great week. This game has potential for so many interesting things. Needless to say, I am a big fan of the game.

The article talks about the fireworks on July 4th in the game. I got to see a few of the fireworks plus my friend was making some cash selling fireworks. It seems they were in high demand. The holiday celebrated inside the game was called “Unification Day.”

Kudos to the development team for thinking of such a thing. I cannot wait to see what they have in mind in the future.

I finally got to play Star Wars Galaxies

Tuesday, July 1st, 2003

What a nifty game! I am very impressed it. The graphics in SWG (Star Wars Galaxies) are great and the customization of your character’s looks is incredible. When you start out, you can pick the physical charactistics of your character. After you enter the game, those are fixed and do not change (as far as I can tell.)

In the game you can make or buy clothing to customize even further. What more could a fashion sensible gay bounty hunter or smuggler want?

I am not positive about this, but I think I have been able to find other gay characters via the Community dialog. I set it up for me being a male and searching for a male. It kept flagging perfect matches with other characters. I actually tracked one down last night and found him to be very nice, but I didn’t ask on the gay issue. I just flirted alot and then kissed him goodbye. He was very nice and gave me some new clothes :-). Not only that, but his character was rather good looking for a computer image!

Anyway, it’s pretty fun so far and I can’t wait to continue to explore strange new worlds and new civilizations (oh wait..)

Star Wars Galaxies Official Release Date

Wednesday, June 18th, 2003

Sci Fi Wire — The News Service of the Sci Fi Channel - Finally!!! A real announement. Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) will be released on June 26th. Fortuniately, I already know I am getting it as a late birthday gift. I can’t wait to see it!

The companies will launch four subscription plan options: month-to-month ($14.99 per month), three months ($14 per month), six months ($13 per month) and 12 months ($12 per month).

Much suprise I have. Higher than expected price is!

So are there any gay players out there? Post in the comments. Maybe we can start a “guild” or whatever the Star Wars equivalent would be called.

Elite Forces 2

Thursday, June 12th, 2003

Sci Fi Wire — Elite Force II to Ship - Yay. I really liked the first one. Sadly I never found the time to finish it though. I’d hate to buy a sequel and not have completed the first. I have a feeling I will be break down though :-).
