Still Being Read?

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Looking over the stats that Wordpress provides and the comments coming in, there are a couple of posts that are still viewed fairly often here at Q99. If folks are still reading this site occasionally, perhaps I will keep it more update to date.

The gay WoW entry continues to get comments about new guilds or searching for new guilds. I should give WoW another go.

Wordpress 2.1

Thursday, March 1st, 2007

Version 2.1 was released last month. I’ve been trying to get it installed, but there’s a requirement of MySQL 4 and my hosting service had me on v3.

It’s taken a little bit over a month to get them to upgrade MySQL.

(Nifty… wordpress just says it saved my post while I was typing it.)

So I’m all upgraded. I cannot find the database backup plugin that I thought was default with 2.0. (I haven’t moved any plugin’s over yet).

Cleaning up

Thursday, July 13th, 2006

Miss me? I’ve upgraded to the latest WordPress and cleaned up a few draft things I had been working on. Also, played around with some themes and even tried this new fangled widget sidebar things. I have to say, I like the widgets. Very neat idea although installing was a bit of a hassle (nothing major, just detailed in where stuff had to be copied). Hopefully, widgets will be standard in 2.1.

Perhaps, I’ll post more now. Maybe not ;-).

WordPress has replaced MovableType

Friday, June 25th, 2004

Well it’s done. The weblog software has been switched out. All the redirects were done in my .htaccess file so Google and gang will supposedly update their links at some point. We’ll see how that goes ;-).

What you are seeing at the time of this post is the default template. Needless to say I will be updating the template as soon as I have time.

Changing Web Log Software

Monday, June 21st, 2004

Like everyone else, I have been debating about changing to an open source weblog solution. At the moment, WordPress is at the top of the list.

So keep an eye out for changes. No doubt the site will be looking different when I do switch over.

Event Calendar

Wednesday, September 10th, 2003

Quadrant99 - September 2003 - This is my attempt at trying to keep a geek schedule (for lack of a better description). This calendar will have entertainment events as I come across them.

I make no claim that it will be accurate!! The calendar is created using iCal on my Mac and subsequently gets synced automatically to my Palm (too geeky!).

I have tried to show genre season premiere dates (like Smallville, Enterprise, Charmed, etc.) DVD release dates will be listed also.

If anything isn’t listed that you think should be, post a comment to this entry and I will verify and put it up (please include a link to where you heard about it.)

Oh yeah, it’s not really integrated into the site, so a new window will pop up and when your done, just close the window since I have not implemented a return to weblog link inside the calendar.

The Journal Merge

Saturday, May 17th, 2003

I used to run a personal weblog that contained a bunch of geeky stuff too. I decided to merge the entries from there into this log. There was little point in running two weblogs with such similiar interests.

At some point in the near future I will be organizing the entires into categories. This will allow folks to find what they are interested in.

New Site is Up

Sunday, May 4th, 2003

The new Quadrant 99 is up. It isn’t perfect yet and there are some formatting issues in some broswers. If you find any issues, please let me know via the comments below.

There a few new features that have been added as well as some that are simply gone.

Site Redesign

Saturday, April 12th, 2003

I will be redesigning this site in the few weeks. The new site will be more of a weblog type. There will still be sci fi news and that sort of thing, but I am just changing the underlying software to make maintenance easier.
