Animal Crossing gift available for download - DS Fanboy

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Animal Crossing gift available for download - DS Fanboy - It’s goofy stuff like this that make me want to try this Animal Crossing stuff.

DS Wireless stuff is pretty neat. A buddy of mine finally has a DS and we unlocked a Nintedog with each other recently. Kinda cool, but I didn’t like the dog I got! He got a cool mini-daucshund out of the trade.

Spacewar!

Tuesday, December 27th, 2005

Spacewar! - This was probably the first video game I remember playing. The link here shows the orginal game before it was turned into a quarter sucking fest. A link at the site has a java applet that plays the game too.

I used to play this with my grandfather whenever we went to the mall for arcade games. Each quarter upped the time limit to the match, if I remember correctly. It even had a ship that looked like the Asteroid’s ship and another ship that looks like the Enterprise.

I’ve yet to see a remake that emulates it like the arcade. Nothing has come too close yet. (sounds, parts of the ship blowing off, etc.) The arcade version let you blow up part of the ship and still play (ie. an engine could be blown up, but you could still fire.) Not sure if the above applet has it because it’s hard to play alone before the other ship gets sucked into the sun.

Mac Rumors: Apple To Buy TiVo?

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2005

Mac Rumors: Apple To Buy TiVo?I typically don’t believe the rumor mill stuff. This; however, would be the coolest thing and just plain fun to imagine. I have similar fantasies about that Apple cell phone (iPhone or whatever.)

Imagine the possibilities with Apple’s product design and my favorite PVR. Who knows what they could come up with.

Perhaps an iTunes like thing for movies and watching on the TiVo. If they jumped into On Demand HDTV programming with a simple interface, I think they’d have a neat market.

After all, iTunes worked. It’s very successful. The could completely replicate the business model. Down to the point of being able to burn DVD’s of the movies (just as we are able to burn normal audio CD’s of iTunes Store music).

If I keep fantasizing like this, I am going to need a paper towel.

Mattel Armor Battle

Sunday, January 2nd, 2005

Mattel Armor Battle - I had one of these!! Very cool to find photo’s of the game. My unit was left out in the car while at a water park in Florida. It didn’t survive.

A buddy of mine had the submarine one I think. Mattel Sub Chase His was in the car too, but I don’t the sun melted his. This was a long ass time ago and I barely remember.

Update: I also had this one… Mattel Football II. It was pretty cool too. These were all about the same time frame. It might have been in the car too :-). It survived and I may even still own this one. There are plenty more pictures and descriptions at this site. Electronic Handheld Game Museum

Gay Gamers on World of Warcraft

Wednesday, November 24th, 2004

World of Warcraft Community Site - World of Warcraft (WoW) has been released. I played the open beta and was very impressed with the interface and the gameplay.

There is a couple of guilds that are comprised of gay or gay friendly member already. I may seek them out, but for now, I’d just like to meet some other players and nothing too formal like a guild yet.

So, if anyone is gay or gay friendly, drop a comment here and maybe we can all hook up (heh) in the game.

Another Microsoft Security Issue

Friday, June 25th, 2004

News - How much longer will people stick with Microsoft with stuff like this out there? I’m sure the virus writers focus on Microsoft due to popularity, but I really think Microsoft makes it easy for them. I am glad the article points folks to other browsers though. I do not think a majority of internet users know there are alternatives.

Security experts noted that users can avoid the exploit by using alternative browsers such as Mozilla and Opera. Users could also turn off the “Javascript” feature on their Microsoft browsers, though doing so cripple functions on some sites.
