Cinescape – Home – Editorial – I didn’t know this, but there was a story in Green Lantern that dealt with violence against a gay person.
I know very little about comics. Way back in 80′s I used to read comics for Star Trek. I was pretty narrowly focused back then and never read other comics. (Basically, I just wanted new Trek stories and comics provided that.)
I think is something I may go out and pick up. Might be interesting a spark an interest in other comics. The art is some of the comics I have looked over is fantastic. (The Spiderman and Wolverine cover art in the article is really good.)
..and Lex Luthor is president?! wow.. (I’ve watched all the TV/movie incarnations of Superman.)
i think that they shouldnt put stuff like that in comics because in some cases, there are gay people who read the comics and some of them might get affended.they should take time out to realize that gay peolple are just like straight people and they need to be treated teh same as us.if you have something against gay people then you should keep that to your self and not descriminate them for what they are and if they are attracted to boys or girls.keep what u feel about gays inside and dont release it upon them or the world.
I disagree. I haven’t seen the comic, but if you read the article, it shows that the superhero comes to the aid of the gay friend in question. It would be a lot different if superhero was out hunting down anyone that was homosexual, but since they are defending a ‘friend’ then it is steering more towards acceptability.
While there are humans on the planet, there will always be someone that will deem homosexuality not acceptable as a lifestyle. People differ in opinion. It’s not my lifestyle, but that doesn’t mean that I’m showing up at Sparky’s(web site owner) door and beat him up(although he would probably like it if I tied him up first.)
I also don’t believe in ‘swinging’ in straight or gay couples. I’m not going to go out and beat someone up because of it, though. I will tell someone, though, that I don’t agree with it. Open discussions are healthy. Keeping it bottled in causes tension. I’ve had the discussion with Sparky on many occasions. I believe that you can find that one special person and don’t have to go out and sleep with anything that breathes. (Plus, in this day and age that is becoming more and more dangerous.)
There will always be zealots for a cause – look at the number of abortion clinic bombings in ‘the name of God.’ You will never totally eliminate the problem of homophobic people, the goal should be acceptance by the majority.
Just an opinion,
